Construction Bolt-On

Site Environmental Awareness

The Site Environmental Awareness course is designed to give learners a good knowledge of environmental and sustainability factors, and the industry’s best practice when it comes to these.

Participants will learn to identify, control, and minimise the environmental impacts of their work, and identify improvement opportunities.

The Site Environmental Awareness course will cover legal compliance, issues associated with construction activities, sustainability issues, waste management, and statutory nuisance, requirements on water use, contaminated land, and pollution prevention.

A classroom-based course, the learner will leave with environmental knowledge that the sub-contract chain is required to prove to contractors.

This course can be added to the Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative apprenticeship or the Road Surfacing Operative apprenticeship.

This course will take 1 day to complete.

There are no formal entry requirements, however, it is a course designed for construction supervisors – this should be considered before enrolment.

Upon completion, learners will be awarded with a CITB renewable 5-year Site Safety Plus certificate.

Successful candidates are also listed in the Construction Training Register.
